All Audi models produced in 2011 and up will be equipped with an Indirect TPMS system. What’s the difference from the tire pressure monitoring system that previous Audi models used?
An indirect TPMS system measures tire pressure by monitoring the individual rotational speeds of each tire. For example, a tire that is low on pressure spins at a slower speed than a tire that is filled to factory specifications.
A direct TPMS system uses tire pressure sensors mounted in each wheel to take tire pressure readings and then relay those readings back to the vehicles TPMS receiver unit.
